Rail Transition Beam

The rail transition beam was developed to accommodate the difference in track resilience between rigid track sections laid in/ on concrete, for instance those situated over tunnels, and resilient ballasted track. The beam forms a transition mechanism, spanning both the rigid and ballasted track areas equally, smoothing out the difference in track resilience.

It comprises 12 individual rail transition sleepers which are post-tensioned into a single unit. Prior to installation of a beam, base plates are bolted onto the rail-seat and weld-on shoulders are aligned and then welded onto the base plates.
